What is Deconstruction?

Deconstruction is an environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional demolition. Instead of sending rubble to a landfill, deconstruction systematically disassembles a structure to salvage reusable lumber, doors, windows, fixtures, and hard-to-find architectural salvage. Before renovating or rebuilding, call Building Value and your next project can become a model of sustainability.

Building Value has provided deconstruction services to the Greater Cincinnati community for more than 20 years. Our focus on environmental and economic sustainability sets us apart from other contractors, which saves your budget on disposal fees and may help you qualify for significant tax deductions.

Commercial Business

Our team provides full or partial deconstruction services for businesses, retail spaces, and commercial properties. Our professionally managed crews work efficiently to minimize downtime, maintain a safe and professional environment, and deliver maximum value through tax-deductible donations.

Full Home

Deconstruction of every room in the home. Everything that is salvageable is carefully removed for reuse in another home. Professional construction managers lead our specially trained crews to quickly and carefully recover materials in an orderly fashion.

Targeted Deconstruction

Single or multiple rooms that require deconstruction. Kitchens and bathrooms are the most common deconstruction projects.

Social Impact Reports

Social Impact Reports showcase the real difference every Building Value project makes for our community, environment, and workforce. After each deconstruction job, we create a detailed report highlighting key outcomes—like how many pounds of materials were saved from the landfill, how many trainees gained hands-on construction experience, and the tax benefits earned by our clients. These reports help tell the full story of how choosing Building Value creates a triple win: supporting sustainability, empowering individuals with career training, and delivering value to our partners.

Potential Tax Benefits

We'll do a thorough walk through of the property to document what's salvageable and prepare a quote.
A qualified independent appraiser will estimate the salvage value and the cost to prepare all tax documents.
We'll quote the deconstruction project and get started when you're ready. A full home deconstruction can take approx. one month.
We'll photo document the salvaged items for the appraiser and bill you for the deconstruction.
The appraiser completes the 8283 IRS forms, if the job warrants a tax deduction. (IRS rules prohibit us from doing this.)

Only a tax professional can determine if you qualify for a tax deduction from Building Value deconstruction services.
An estimate of value from a qualified appraiser is required.
