Calvin Taylor
Determination Makes Dreams Come True
Calvin wanted to carry on his family’s legacy at Messer Construction, but he lacked a high school diploma and any construction experience or knowledge.
He was the first trainee hired at Building Value in 2004 and after four months of hands-on deconstruction training, Calvin was hired on at Messer. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, two uncles and a brother, he became part of Messer’s four-year journeyman apprentice program.
Calvin’s life has improved in another way. While at Building Value, his managers encouraged him to get his driver’s license. They went so far as to help him study for the test. Getting to work on time is no problem for Calvin now.
After many years with Messer, Calvin found a new opportunity with Groh Contractors Decorative Concrete, where he has been for the past several years.
