Step back into the golden age of the American kitchen with this iconic Tappan Fabulous 400, one of the most celebrated appliances of the late 1950s and early 1960s. When Tappan introduced this design, they rethought the entire form factor of the traditional stove — instead of the conventional low oven that required stooping down to cook or clean, the 400 featured dual ovens positioned at eye level, both fitted with full glass doors.
This is a true piece of mid-century Americana. Emboldened by customer enthusiasm for Jet Age glamour in the 1950s, manufacturers began embellishing kitchen appliances with gleaming chrome and a retro “instrument panel” design — and the Tappan Fabulous 400 was at the forefront of that radical appliance redesign movement.
