About Building Value

Building Value is a social enterprise powered by Easterseals Redwood, based in Cincinnati, OH. We specialize in sustainable demolition, deconstruction, apartment turns, and commercial cleanout services, and the reuse of salvaged building materials. As part of Easterseals Redwood, we are committed to a “Triple Bottom Line” of Social, Environmental, and Financial Performance.

It is our mission…

  • To create sustainable training and employment opportunities for people facing economic disadvantages.
  • To reduce environmental waste by salvaging building materials for reuse and repurpose by the public.

Our Services

Sustainable Deconstruction
We selectively dismantle structures to recover reusable materials. Ideal for renovation and demolition projects seeking an environmentally responsible alternative.

Commercial Cleanouts
We serve offices, schools, retail spaces, restaurants, industrial spaces, and storage facilities, removing heavy items, deconstructing built-ins, and optimizing space with light demolition.

Apartment Turns
Our crews refresh and restore units quickly so properties can return to revenue faster. From painting and drywall repair to fixture installation and light carpentry, we handle the essential touch-ups that prepare apartments, suites, and common areas for new occupants.

Demolition
We provide responsible interior demolition that clears the way for renovation with minimal disruption. Our team removes non-structural walls, built-ins, flooring, ceilings, and casework while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and salvage opportunities.

Deconstruction by the Numbers
  • 500+ structures selectively deconstructed across the region since 2004.
(homes, commercial spaces, historic buildings, multi-unit residential, and more)
  • 360,000+ pounds (180 tons) of reusable building materials diverted from local landfills (including lumber, windows, doors, cabinetry, and architectural salvage)
  • 30,000+ trainee labor hours annually dedicated to deconstruction, salvage, and community service projects
  • 1000+ unique materials are resold annually through the Building Value Reuse Store, supporting the circular economy
Building Value Construction Training Program

Our 12-week paid training program provides hands-on instruction both on-site at our deconstruction projects and in lab spaces at Easterseals Redwood.

    • 5 industry-recognized certifications per cohort (OSHA-10, forklift, skid steer, First Aid/CPR, power tools, safety)
    • 100% of graduates receive one full year of job coaching and supportive services
    • 40+ graduates placed into the regional workforce in the past two years alone

If you’ve visited Building Value’s retail store in Northside, chances are you’ve met Terry Brueneman—or at least seen his work. As the point of contact for all things retail, Terry wears many hats: managing the retail team, researching and pricing donated items, coordinating with the deconstruction manager to evaluate incoming materials, making repairs, and designing engaging product displays to help items move quickly. Terry brings years of experience to the role, including his time as Visual Merchandising Manager at Lazarus Furniture Gallery, where he developed floor plans for new stores and curated seasonal layouts that brought inventory to life. After Lazarus, Terry helped launch new Kohl’s stores across the Cincinnati market. With expertise in visual merchandising, operational setup, and cross-functional logistics, Terry supports store teams in transforming empty spaces into fully functioning retail environments.
