We are excited to welcome customers, neighbors, and supporters to a community Open House on Saturday, June 7th from 9 am until 5 pm, celebrating recent updates to our Northside retail location.
This family-friendly event will showcase a series of renovations aimed at improving the customer experience, conveying Building Value’s mission, and strengthening their presence in the Northside community. Attendees can enjoy food, music, hands-on activities, and a behind-the-scenes look at Building Value’s crew in action.
Guests will get the first look at:
- Renovated breezeway, restrooms, appliance room and antique showroom;
- A fresh coat of exterior paint;
- Bold new decals along Spring Grove Avenue that highlight Building Value’s workforce training mission, provided by Cincinnati-based Decal Impressions;
- A colorful new mural at the parking lot entrance illustrates the community impact of Building Value’s social enterprise, created by artist Dave Rickerd;
- New planters and live flowers at the store entrance, courtesy of our friends at The Plant Trolley.
Event Highlights:
- 9 a.m. – The store opens; complimentary coffee and donuts served.
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Hot dogs, drinks, and chips served ($1 suggested donation – free for kids!)
- 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Painting activity where families and children can decorate a community banner to be displayed on our 4th of July Parade float.
- 12 to 2 p.m. – Live 4th of July Parade float construction demo.
“This Open House is a way to celebrate with the people who make our mission possible – our customers, community, and partners,” said Terry Brueneman, Retail Manager and all-around leader in the remodeling effort. “The renovations reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a welcoming space while supporting job training, environmental sustainability, and reuse.”
Building Value provides workforce development training through its deconstruction services, which also diverts 180 tons of construction debris from the landfill each year. The salvaged building materials, kitchen cabinets, fixtures, and appliances are sold for reuse and repurpose at the Northside retail store.
